EXCLUSIVE: Dexter: Original Sin ended on a high note over the weekend, measuring a finale audience that grew 27% over the December premiere.

The finale tallied 2.68M global viewers on Paramount+ with Showtime, according to Paramount Global. This includes the three-day streaming audience that tuned in once the episode became available on Friday, as well as any same-day viewers that watched when the episode aired on the linear network Sunday night.

It was the most-streamed episode of the season, Paramount Global says, up 30% from the premiere’s streaming audience.

The company did not provide streaming-specific numbers, but the claim is supported by the 27% increase in total viewers over the weekend.

Paramount Global is touting this as Showtime‘s most-streamed series in 10 years. It’s worth noting that Showtime began to develop its online presence around 2015, and there has been an overall audience shift to streaming in recent years, so that stat is somewhat of a natural conclusion.

However, it does mean that Dexter: Original Sin has beat some of Showtime’s more recent series — like Yellowjackets, The Agency, and The Curse — in terms of its streaming audience.

So far, Dexter: Original Sin has not made an appearance on the Nielsen streaming charts. There’s still time, though, since those reports are a month delayed, meaning data is only available through the week of January 13 to 19, when six episodes were available.

Dexter: Original Sin hails from showrunner and executive producer Clyde Phillips, chronicling Dexter’s origin story. Set in 1991 Miami, the series follows Dexter (Patrick Gibson) as he transitions from student to avenging serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can’t be ignored any longer, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness.

With the guidance of his father, Harry (Christian Slater), he adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on law enforcement’s radar. This is a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.

The Dexter franchise will continue with Dexter: Resurrection, which will see Michael C. Hall return as the titular serial killer. The cast also includes David Zayas as Detective Angel Batista, James Remar as Dexter’s father Harry Morgan, Jack Alcott as Dexter’s son Harrison Morgan, Uma Thurman as Charley, and Peter Dinklage as Leon Prater.
