Fog is covering parts of the country this morning
Most of Greater Manchester is waking up to a weather warning as dense fog hits the region this morning (March 26).
The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning overnight, covering parts of the North West, Yorkshire and East Anglia.
The alert came into effect at 4.01am this and lasts until 10am today. It covers most of Greater Manchester – including the city, Salford, Trafford, Wigan and parts of Bolton, Bury, Rochdale, Stockport and Tameside boroughs.
In these areas, the Met Office says fog will be dense in places and may lead to some travel delays.
The warning also covers much of Cheshire, Lancashire and Merseyside, plus much of North Yorkshire, East Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and East Anglia.
In these areas, the Met Office is warning that buses, trains and flights could all be hit by delays or cancellations due to the weather.
A Met Office spokesperson added: “Areas of fog will be dense in places, reducing visibility to less than 100m at times which may lead to some travel delays. Fog will lift and clear during the morning.”
Manchester is forecast for an overcast start to the day, before clouds break with sunny intervals from 9am.
Clear skies are expected from late afternoon, with highs of 15C and overnight lows of 7C forecast for the city by the Met Office.
